“A vibrant and modern facility that is first choice for local people and services”
The Peter Street Centre lies on the edge of St Helens town centre, and is an imposing Victorian redbrick building. Constructed in 1906 as an Institute for the Girls and Young Women of the local community, the Centre was comprehensively refurbished to modern standards in 2005 and is continued to be maintained to the standards required of today.
For over 12 years the Peter Street Centre has operated primarily as a Community Centre accessible to local people, offering them the space for various activities from training to sports.
It is valued as one of a sadly dwindling number of opportunities for hire and delivery of such activities in the St Helens area.
The income gained from hiring out meeting rooms allows the Centre to continue to offer a nurturing and friendly environment for local individuals and groups, investing in the space and facilities needed to develop and grow the community.
